Community Family Day


SBC Community Development Corporation ends the year with Community Family Day at Second Baptist Church for South Dade residents. It was a free day for family enjoyment, full of vendors, food trucks, and an intramural sports tournament.

“We closed out 2016 with something for the entire family. We had a senior zone, children zone, and a kickball tournament where the Polk Street Team took home bragging rights,” said SBC Community Development Corporation Executive Director, Mark Valentine. “We are pleased that the South Dade Community came out. BioTech at Richmond Heights High School hosted a petting zoo and Microsoft sponsored a Microsoft surface tutorial day of lessons. We have so much more in store. Our next event will be our annual Mother’s day concert on May 14th staring Karen Clark Sheard and Kierra Sheard. “

Community Family Day ended with a movie on the lawn, Black Nativity. Guests brought their lawn chairs for a soon to be family tradition. South Miami-Dade Stand-outs were honored as well. Richmond-Perrine Giants Jr. Varsity Dance Team won the coveted Southeastern division National Title for Pop Warner Cheer/Dance Theme in Orlando, Fl. Performing the hit, “The Wiz.” The Southridge High School Varsity Football Team. The Team recently won the Class 8A State Football Championship. As well as the Division 1 Jr. Varsity Richmond-Perrine Giants “Golden Boys” Football team who won Pop Warner Super Bowl 2016 National Championship.
